DevLys Keyboard Layout
The complete interactive reference for every key in the DevLys 010 Hindi typing layout. DevLys 010 uses the same keyboard as Kruti Dev 010 — the two are interchangeable for CPCT, RSMSSB & state LDC exams.
Same keyboard as Kruti Dev
DevLys 010 and Kruti Dev 010 share the exact same Remington-based key positions. If you can type in one, you can type in the other — only the font glyphs differ.
Visual typing, not phonetic
DevLys is a legacy font — characters are typed in left-to-right visual order, not by sound. The short-i matra (ि) is typed before its consonant even though it appears after.
Accepted in the same exams
Because it is interchangeable with Kruti Dev, DevLys 010 is accepted wherever Kruti Dev is — Rajasthan RSMSSB/RSSB LDC, CPCT and many state LDC/Steno tests.

Special rule — short i matra (ि): In DevLys (like Kruti Dev) you type f (i matra) BEFORE the consonant key, even though it appears after the consonant when rendered. For example “कि” is typed as f + d.

DevLys Keyboard — Common Questions
Is DevLys 010 the same as Kruti Dev 010?
The keyboard is the same — DevLys 010 and Kruti Dev 010 use the identical Remington-based key layout, so the same keystrokes produce the same Hindi characters. They differ only in a few font glyphs. Both are legacy (non-Unicode) fonts and are interchangeable in government typing exams.
Can I practise on Kruti Dev and take a DevLys exam (or vice versa)?
Yes. Because the two fonts share the same keyboard, practice on one transfers directly to the other. Just confirm your exam accepts either font, then set the required font in your typing tool.
How do I type ख (kha) or क्ष (ksha) in DevLys?
Type them as key sequences, exactly as in Kruti Dev: ख = "[ + k" and क्ष = "{ + k". DevLys builds many consonants and conjuncts from 2–3 keys — see the "Common Multi-Key Sequences" list in the chart above.
Why do I type the short-i matra (ि) before the consonant?
Because DevLys is a visual (not phonetic) font — you type keys left-to-right in the order characters appear on screen. The short-i matra sits to the left of its consonant, so you press its key ("f") first: "कि" is typed f + d.
How do I install the DevLys 010 font?
Download the DevLys 010 .ttf file, right-click it and choose Install, then select "DevLys 010" as the font in MS Word before typing. If you practise in the Gurukul desktop app the fonts are already bundled, so nothing to install.
Which finger should I use for each key?
Use the standard touch-typing finger positions — the finger for each physical key is the same as English typing (f = left index, j = right index, and so on), regardless of the Hindi character it produces. Toggle the finger view on the keyboard above to see the colour-coded finger for every key.
